Biographical data
Name: Hampton, Thomas Inglis
Also known as: Thomas J. Hampton
Born: 1805
Died: 13 June 1875

Notes:
Saint-Elme-le-Duc, in Le Palamède (1845, p.30), and Kieseritzky, in La Régence (1851, p.205), refer to the brothers Hampton, so presumably Thomas Inglis Hampton and J. William Hampton were brothers. The Illustrated London News of 26 June 1875 (p.618) announces his death 'at age 59', but the Field of 19 June 1875 says 'at the age of sixty-nine' and Gaige says he was born in 1805, which agrees with the latter. The Chess Player's Magazine of 1 June 1867 (p.187) has 'J.I. Hampton' in error.
