The British Chess Magazine of Jun. 1891 (p.266) lists 'C.A. Simon' playing for the British Chess Club, and the Deutsches Wohenschach of 5 Jul. 1891 (p.227) has 'A. Simon'. I am guessing that this is 'C.M. Simon' who, according to Forster, played for the British Chess Club in 1898 as well as for Manchester in 1875, 1878 and 1881. The Field of 24 Apr. 1875 has 'Simons'. The Field of 30 Dec. 1876 has 'Charles M. Simon'.
