Notes:

The 'Chess by Circulation' in the Chess Monthly of Sept. 1883, p.20 (see Chess Notes 4652) lists an 'H.L. Bland' of Derby, which I assume is an error for H.T. Bland. Winter, referring to the American Chess Bulletin, says that he died 'a few days after attending the chess congress in Cambridge', which finished 2-04-1932, so I am guessing that he died in Apr. 1932. The Chess Player's Chronicle of 8 Feb. 1882 (p.68) has 'H F Bland', as does the Nottinghamshire Guardian of 10 Feb. 1882 (p.4).
