Name: Manhattan Club - Chicago Club Telegraph Match |
Place: New York and Chicago |
Start date: 22 Feb. 1905 |
End date: 22 Feb. 1905 |
|
Notes: |
The San Francisco Chronicle of 5 Mar. 1905 gives results of many games as 'Adj.' (presumably 'Adjourned') or as 'Lost' or 'Dr' but without specifying for which side. The American Chess Bulletin gives clean results. Urcan cites the American Chess Bulletin, but then changes the results of Delmar-Madsen from a draw to a win for Madsen, and Halpern-Parke from a draw to a win for Halpern. In both of these cases, the San Francisco Chronicle also indicates a draw. I follow the American Chess Bulletin. The Chicago Tribune of 19 Feb. 1905 (p.S-4) has C. Jones playing for Chicago, where the American Chess Bulletin has E.S. Jones. Again, I follow the latter. |
