Notes:
Name given sometimes as 'Schweitzer' and sometimes as 'Schwietzer'. Although the former seems more plausible, Gaige (Chess Personalia) and Di Felice give the latter as correct. Full middle name from Eduardo Bauzá Mercére. The New York Times of 9 Nov. 1903 (p.12) has 'G.F. Schweitzer' in the Manhattan club championship, while the 4 Jan. 1904 issue (p.7) has 'Schwietzer' in the same event. Urcan has 'G.C. Schwietzer', as does the American Chess Bulletin of Jul. 1904 (p.46). The San Francisco Chronicle of 5 Mar. 1905 (p.38) has 'Sweitzer'.
