Event data |
Name: British Amateur Championship |
Place: London, England |
Start date: 26 Nov. 1889 |
End date: Dec. 1889 |
|
Notes: |
Di Felice has 'Gibbons, T.E.' at this event, as does the Field of 30 Nov. 1889 (p.779), but Winter (A Chess Omnibus, p.72) mentions a player named T.C. Gibbons in London in 1888, which I assume to be the correct name of the player at this event. Di Felice has 'Jones, Atherly' instead of 'Atherley-Jones'. Di Felice gives dates '25-? XI 1889', but the Field of 30 Nov. 1889 gives the start date as Tues. 26 Nov. 1889, and suggests that it was to last much more than a week, so I will guess at an end date in Dec. 1889. |
