| Hooper and Whyld say 'born perhaps between 1780 and 1800' and 'lived into the second half of the 19th century.' The author of the letter that appeared in the Oct. 1850 issue of the Chess Player's Chronicle (pp.318-319) says 'I fancy his age must now be fifty or more...', which suggests a birthdate a little before 1800. |
