Notes:

Steve Mann gives date of birth as Oct.-Dec. 1840. The name 'Moet' occasionally appears in reports in the 1860s (e.g., the Era of 24 May 1863, p.5). According to Steve Mann (personal communication) this is not Joseph-Louis Meöt de Monmusard (or Moët?), a player from Paris, who lived in Sheffield in the 1850s, because he committed suicide in 1859. Steve Mann thinks that later occurences of the name Moet are misrepresentations of Mort.
