Notes:

In a letter to Bell's Life in London (24 Feb. 1839), Harry Wilson says he is 'an amateur of 32 years standing', which would suggest that he began his chess career in 1807. Townsend says he died in 1850. Gaige gives year of death as 1851. Sergeant says he died in Jan. 1851. Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper of 2 Apr. 1859 gives a game (from the Era) in which 'Henry Wilson' gives Knight odds to W. Harris; I am guessing that this should be Harry Wilson, not Henry Wilson of Sheffield.
