Forster has name listed as 'Bodé, [Adolphe]', so first name not certain. A correspondence game of 'C.H. Bode' appears in the Chess Player's Chronicle of 1853 (p.266), with no indication of his location, but, according to Tim Harding, 'C.H. Bode' appears in the list of annual subscribers to the Chess Association as a member of the Manchester Club. Bodé was in the Manchester Chess Club at least from 1853 to 1871. I am guessing that he is also the 'Bode' or 'Bodé' who played at the City of London Club in 1874 and 1875. This seems likely, as 'C.H. Bodé' is listed as a participant at Wiesbaden in 1880, saying that he was 'a former resident of London'. His first name 'Charles' comes from genealogical and census research by Tim Harding. That research suggests the possibility that this was Charles Henry Christian Adolph Bode, but this identification is not certain.
