| Not to be confused with John Thornton Boden of Settle, Yorkshire (see the Chess Player's Chronicle 1847, v.8, p.295), brother of S.S. Boden. Given as 'L.-S. Boden' in Le Palamède (1846, v.6, p.199) and as 'L.S. Boden' in Bell's Life in London (17 May 1846, p.3). I presume this is an error for S.S. Boden. Gaige gives date of birth as 04-04-1826, as does Potter in Land and Water (21 Jan. 1882); Steve Mann gives 04-05-1826, based on genealogical information. |
